Oratorical Contest Both the Oratorical and CCDHH Contest topic is "Why My Voice is Important"
The Optimist International Oratorical Contest is for Students under the age of 19 (for the entire school year of 2013), who have not yet graduated from high school or the equivalent, and who are educated in the United States, Canada, or the Caribbean. Each applicant is required to give a 4- to 5-minute speech. Winners progress to the next level. The Pacific Southwest District Board of Directors approved on 10/20/2012 a combined gender format of the 2012-2013 Oratorical Contest. Young men and women will now compete in a single contest at each level of the competition.
The topic for the 2012-2013 Optimist Essay Contest is:
"How Can I Help My Friends Realize Their Value"
The maximum length of the Essay has been increased to an 800-word limit. The contest is open to all students who have not graduated from high school. The district winner is awarded a $2,500 scholarship, furnished by the Optimist International Foundation. As entry forms become available they will be posted here. All Essays are due to the District Chair by Feb. 28, 2013 |
